July 19 – July 21 | Minneapolis, Minnesota

South Sudan Unite is a celebration of our unique and evolving culture. It is both an event and an initiative. As an event, it is an annual gathering of our people in the spirit of peace and unity, in which we celebrate each other. As an initiative, it is a community-building effort focused on mobilizing our diaspora in solidarity.

The goal of SSU is to create unity amongst South Sudanese in diaspora and at home by celebrating our unique cultures through the arts, fashion, professional development, mentorship, and community development initiatives – with a focus on investing in young people.

The weekend-long event is FREE and all are welcome. Register to get your FREE ticket to the event! #SSU5

We believe it’s crucial to inspire and empower youth to maximize their potential and also to celebrate their achievements. The goal of the moderated panel and workshops led by successful South Sudanese professionals is to empower youth to become leaders of their world by providing guidance and creating a strong network of positive role models to inspire, support, and develop our young people.

The Community Festival is a social event for families, friends, and the South Sudanese community to have fun together and play basketball while interacting with the founder of South Sudan Unite, Luol Deng. We will have traditional dishes cooked by South Sudanese women, a bouncy castle and face paint for children, and a DJ and dance floor open to all.

SudoNight, also known as culture night, is an opportunity to enjoy live music and performances by South Sudanese musicians and dancers. We’ll also be giving out awards, The Diaspora Awards, to those doing exceptional work for the community.

South Sudan Unite will end with a Fashion and Arts Showcase – a fashion show with light refreshments, an interactive art exhibition, and stylish vendors. In addition, we’ll also have live performances by South Sudanese dancers and singers.
